The symposium 'Fixing what isn’t broken. What is reconstruction in contemporary art?' will take place on December 3 at the Latvian National Museum of Art. It will address the dilemmas that arise when trying to reconstruct contemporary artworks, with a particular focus on works that are unstable or changing - installations, performances, kinetic or multimedia artworks.

At 7pm on Thursday, 8 September, contemporary art festival SURVIVAL KIT will be launched at C.C. von Stritzky’s villa, Aristida Briāna Street 9, Riga. This year, according to the thematic call Acupuncture of Society, the festival will address esoteric, spiritualism, mysticism and other non-traditional practices.

LCCA Evening School with Indrek Grigor

On March 29 at 18:00 Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art invites you for the next reading workshop of LCCA Evening School 'Art Criticism and the Baltics' with semiotician and art critic Indrek Grigor.
Drawing inspiration from the Art Magazine Reading Group operating in New York and London, the participants of the Evening School reading workshop are invited to read the spring issue of Estonian art and visual culture quaterly KUNST.EE. In addition to questions on the relevance, contents and role of such periodicals, we will turn to the strategies of art criticism and their relationship to the local context.

Symposium 'Lost (and found) in the Archive''

In connection with the contemporary art exhibition “Lost in the Archive” an international symposium “Lost (and Found) in the Archive” will take place on 23rd of March, 11 pm-7 pm in the Riga Art Space. Seven lecturers will focus on the variety of mistakes, gaps and narratives that we can discover with the help of contemporary art archives.
The symposium is curated by Inga Lāce and Andra Silapētere (LCCA)

‘Analogue Image’ - experimental film screening and discussion

As part of the analogue media exhibition ‘Invisible Images’ by Ieva Balode, the artist would like to invite her audience to a special discussion with the London based analogue cinema artist Karel Doing and Lithuanian artist Vytautas Juozėnas, which will take place at the LCCA’s Office gallery on 10 February at 6.30pm.
